We begin to study the properties of gases through a well-known mechanical model, then we perform a school-Iab replica of Volta’s experiment on the dilatation of gases at constant pressure. After observing that the behaviour of air is close to that of ideal gases, we see that oxygen behaves differently and satisfies the equation of Van der Waals.
